The
West African NGO Network (WANGONeT)
We work very closely with WANGONeT our sister company. The West African
NGO Network was established in 2000 to bring the benefits of the Information
age to the doorsteps of West African Not-for-profits. The West African
NGO Network is an electronic community of civil society organisations
across the region that shares the singular goal of enhancing the development
of their stakeholders. Wangonet
was conceived to harness the global reach of the steadily evolving
telecommunications sectors for the benefit of Non Governmental Organizations,
media, educational and cultural institutions. The underlying philosophy
is to democratize global access to information for West African
organizations, while providing the training, infrastructure and
intellectual access into the much talked about Information Superhighway
WANGONeT Vision
To be a knowledge based and knowledge driven organization, operating
with private sector efficiencies, that provides Intellectual and
ITC resource to NGOs, media, educational and cultural institutions,
as well as private sector clients.
WANGONeT Mission
To merge private sector efficiencies with public sector awareness
and create a robust model for social and economic growth.

Activities
· NGO Outreach: Seeks to integrate NGOs across the region
helping them streamline their corporate strategies and evolve into
more efficient businesses. Extensive needs assessment is carried
out on every NGO joining the Network to determine their individual
requirements and help shape a training regimen for the organization.
· Content Development:
Build and maintain the infrastructure that will help clients generate
new and original content, re-purpose existing content, and utilise
the multimedia tools that the Internet provides. Develop a Digital
Data Kitchen encompassing a web-publishing suite.
· Training: Offer
year-round training programmes on the comprehension and utility
of the Internet as a tool for development. The proposed curriculum
is a flexible and scalable set of courses ranging from beginner
level to more advanced training in relevant Information Technologies.
· Connectivity:
To eventually provide a high bandwidth (up to 2Mbs) Internet hook-up
with a comprehensive suite of support services especially designed
for NGOs, including a customer help desk.
